Prayer
God,
Keep me from overlooking small invitations because they don't seem important enough.
Help me remember that You are not asking me to measure the significance of my obedience.
You are asking me to offer it.
Teach me to value the quiet yes.
The unseen work.
The first attempt.
The imperfect beginning.
The small act of faithfulness that nobody else may ever notice.
And when I am tempted to wait until I can do something bigger, remind me that You have always known how to begin with small things.
Amen.

We have a strange tendency to believe that meaningful obedience must look meaningful.
If God is involved, surely it should be big... visible... important...
Something worth telling people about.
But Scripture keeps bringing us back to small things.
A mustard seed.
A widow's offering.
A shepherd's staff.
Five loaves.
A young boy's lunch.
A cup of cold water.
A faithful yes.
God has never seemed particularly impressed by scale.
He looks at faithfulness.
This matters because sometimes we recognize an invitation but hesitate because it feels too small to matter.
Write the story.
Make the painting.
Start the conversation.
Open the notebook.
Plant the garden.
Send the encouragement.
Try the idea.
Make the first thing.
You may not know what it becomes.
You don't have to.
Your responsibility is not to make the invitation significant.
Your responsibility is to faithfully respond to it.
God can do big things with small things.
He always has.
