Prayer
God,
Give me courage to begin.
Help me stop waiting for the perfect conditions, the perfect plan, or the confidence that I will somehow know exactly what I'm doing.
If You are inviting me to begin, let me begin.
Give me grace for imperfect work.
Grace for small beginnings.
Grace for learning as I go.
And remind me that I don't have to finish today what You are only asking me to start.
Amen.

Reflection
Sometimes the invitation is clear.
You know the thing you've been circling.
The story you need to write.
The painting you want to make.
The conversation you need to have.
The idea you can't stop thinking about.
The next step is sitting right there.
And still, you don't take it.
Because beginning makes something real.
As long as the idea lives only in your imagination, it can remain perfect.
Untouched. Uncriticized. Safe.
But the moment you begin, it becomes something you can actually hold.
A messy first draft.
A crooked first line.
A canvas that doesn't look the way you imagined.
A conversation that doesn't go perfectly.
A first attempt.
And perhaps that's why beginning requires so much courage.
Not because the first step is always enormous, but because it requires us to exchange imagined possibility for imperfect faithfulness.
You don't have to finish the book today.
You don't have to build the entire business.
You don't have to know what the painting will become.
You don't even have to know whether this little beginning will become something much larger.
You only have to begin what you believe God is inviting you to begin.
Write the page.
Make the mark.
Take the step.
Let God meet you in the beginning.
