Prayer

God,

Bring the right people to mind today.

Give me courage to reach toward them.

Where I need to encourage, help me speak.

Where I need to apologize, give me humility.

Where someone needs to know they are remembered, help me make the effort.

Don't let busyness become an excuse for withholding love.

Make me attentive to the people You have placed around me.

Amen.

Reflection

Sometimes the invitation isn't about creating something.

Sometimes it's about reaching toward someone.

There is a name that keeps coming to mind.

A friend you haven't checked on.

Someone you need to thank.

Someone you need to apologize to.

Someone whose story you want to hear.

Someone you have been meaning to encourage.

And you keep thinking, I should reach out.

Then another day passes. And another.

We tell ourselves we'll do it when we have more time.

When we know exactly what to say.

When we can write the perfect message.

But love rarely requires perfect words.

Sometimes it just requires presence.

I thought of you today.

How are you?

I've been praying for you.

I miss you.

Thank you.

I'm sorry.

I'm here.

These are small sentences.

But small things can carry enormous love.

Perhaps the holy invitation today is simply to stop thinking about reaching out... and reach out.
