The yes that requires courage.

This September, journey with us as we learn to notice the holy invitations God is placing before us—and find the courage to faithfully respond.

Prayer

God,

Give me courage for the yes that is mine to give.

Not reckless courage. Not the kind that ignores wisdom.

But the steady courage that comes from knowing You are with me.

When fear tells me I am not ready, remind me that readiness is not the same as perfection.

When I feel unqualified, remind me that You have never required me to be everything.

You have only asked me to be faithful with what You've placed in my hands. Help me take the step forward.

Amen.

Verse of the Day

Reflection

Eventually, discernment asks something of us.

There comes a moment when we've listened long enough.

Prayed long enough. Considered all of the possibilities.

And we begin to sense: This feels like it is mine.

That's when courage enters the room.

Because recognizing an invitation and responding to it are two different things.

You can know what you are supposed to do and still be afraid to do it.

You can believe God is leading you and still wonder whether you're capable.

You can feel called and still feel completely unqualified.

Courage doesn't mean you suddenly stop being afraid.

It means fear no longer gets the final word.

Maybe your yes today is very small.

Maybe it's opening the blank page.

Making the phone call.

Submitting the application.

Telling the truth.

Sharing your work.

Asking for help.

Beginning again.

Whatever it is, remember this:

God isn't asking you to manufacture the strength required to become the person you need to be someday.

He is meeting you here with the courage you have today.

The courage grows as you begin.

Encouragement

Invitation

Is there a yes you've been discerning that now requires courage?

Write it down.

Then ask: “What is the smallest faithful step I can take?”
