Prayer
God,
Give me the courage to wait when I don't know.
Keep me from forcing an answer simply because uncertainty makes me uncomfortable.
If the invitation is not clear yet, help me remain faithful where I am.
Teach me to trust that silence is not abandonment and waiting is not wasted time.
When it is time to move, make the next step clear.
Until then, help me stay close.
Amen.

Reflection
Sometimes we think discernment means eventually finding the answer.
Yes.
No.
Go.
Stay.
Start.
Stop.
But sometimes the answer is:
Wait.
And waiting can feel like failure when you're accustomed to measuring faithfulness by movement.
We want to know.
We want clarity.
We want the next step.
We want the reassurance that we're not wasting time.
But there are invitations that become clear only with time.
A seed beneath the soil.
A conversation that needs to unfold.
A desire that needs to mature.
A door that isn't ready.
A direction that God hasn't revealed yet.
Waiting isn't necessarily doing nothing.
Sometimes waiting is an active form of trust.
You are still listening.
Still praying.
Still tending what is already in your hands.
Still living the life God has given you today.
You don't have to manufacture clarity because you're uncomfortable with uncertainty.
You can say: “I don't know yet.”
And that's a faithful answer.
There is no shame in a holy not yet.
Perhaps God is not withholding the next step.
Perhaps He is inviting you to trust Him before He gives it.
