Prayer
God,
Teach me to recognize fruit by Your definition, not mine.
Help me remember that a fruitful life isn't necessarily the biggest life, the busiest life, or the most visible one.
Make me more interested in becoming like You than looking successful to everyone else.
Amen.

Reflection
We have a funny way of measuring fruitfulness.
We count the things we can see.
The finished work. The growing business. The answered prayer. The recognition. The numbers.
And those things can be good.
But Scripture gives us another picture of fruit.
Love.
Joy.
Peace.
Patience.
Kindness.
Faithfulness.
Suddenly the harvest looks very different.
Maybe the most fruitful thing you did this year was stay when it would have been easier to leave.
Maybe it was forgiving someone.
Maybe it was learning to rest.
Maybe it was choosing faithfulness when nobody noticed.
Maybe it was becoming a little more gentle with yourself.
God is not measuring your life the way the world does.
And that's good news.

Not what have I accomplished.
Who am I becoming?
