Prayer
God,
Give me a grateful heart.
Not one that waits for everything to be perfect before giving thanks, but one that can recognize Your goodness right here.
Help me stop long enough to celebrate what is here.
Thank You for what has grown.
Thank You for what is still growing.
Thank You for what I cannot yet see.
And thank You most of all for being with me through every season.
Amen.

Reflection
Maybe this is one of the hardest parts of harvest:
staying long enough to enjoy it.
We are so accustomed to moving forward that stopping can feel almost uncomfortable.
But there is a difference between being stuck and being present.
Sometimes stopping is how we remember.
Sometimes gratitude requires us to put down the list and look around.
This is what we are practicing this month.
Not pretending everything is perfect.
Not pretending every prayer has been answered.
Not pretending every seed has become what we hoped.
Just noticing what is here.
Because there is goodness here.
There is evidence of grace here.
There is fruit here.
