A little note before we begin today…
A few of you have reached out wondering where the daily emails went the last couple of days, and I wanted to let you know that I accidentally made a mistake when scheduling them. ❤️
Life happens, even behind the scenes of the things we create and send out into the world! Thank you for noticing, for reaching out, and for being here. It means more than you know to have you along for this daily journey.
We'll pick right back up where we left off. I'm glad you're here. Pull up a chair. ❤️
Prayer
God,
Make gratitude a natural part of the way I live.
Not something I reach for only when life is going well, but a way of paying attention to You in every season.
Help me remember the people who have walked beside me, the small mercies I might otherwise overlook, and the ways You have provided when I didn't know what I needed.
Keep my heart open to wonder.
And when I forget, gently turn my attention back to You.
Amen.
Verse of the Day
Reflection
Sometimes we treat gratitude like the closing prayer at the end of a meal.
We say thank You, and then we move on.
But gratitude can be more than a response to something good. It can change the way we pay attention.
When we begin looking for reasons to give thanks, ordinary things become a little less ordinary.
The friend who checked in.
The meal someone else prepared.
The idea that arrived while you were doing something completely unrelated.
The first cool morning after a stretch of heat.
The prayer that didn't change your circumstances but somehow helped you keep going.
These things were happening before we noticed them. Gratitude simply helps us see them.
And I think that's part of receiving the harvest.
We don't have to manufacture something wonderful to be thankful. We can learn to recognize the gifts already woven through our days.
Not every day will feel abundant. Some days, gratitude will be a quiet choice made in the middle of difficulty.
But even then, we can look for the places where grace has met us.
Encouragement
Invitation
Before the day ends, write down three things you're thankful for.
Try to be specific. Instead of my family, name the conversation, the laugh, or the small kindness that reminded you how much they mean to you.
Give those moments a place to live beyond the moment itself.
Come Practice the Art of Noticing
What if some of the most meaningful things God is doing in your life are happening in the ordinary moments you’ve learned to overlook?
That’s where we’re headed in Month 2 of The Practice as we lean into The Art of Noticing.
Together, we’re making room to slow down and see familiar things with fresh eyes. The small details of an ordinary day. The beauty tucked into the middle of a busy week. The thoughts and questions that keep returning. The ways God meets us in the everyday, often without fanfare or announcement.
The year-long journey of The Practice isn’t about adding one more thing to your to-do list or learning to create something impressive. It’s about becoming more present to the life you’re already living and discovering that there is more beauty here than you realize.
Through reflection, creative invitations, and simple practices, we’ll explore what it means to pay attention—to our surroundings, to our own hearts, and to the quiet ways God invites us to see, wonder, and respond.
You can join us today. You don’t have to wait for a new year or worry that you’ve missed your chance. When you join The Practice, you’ll begin with Month 1 and move through the experience from the beginning, receiving all the goodness that has been thoughtfully gathered for you along the way. This self-paced retreat called, The Art of Noticing will be waiting for you when you get to Month 2.
The Practice is a place to pull up a chair, open a book, make something with your hands, ask honest questions, and create space for God in the middle of your everyday life. There’s room here whether you consider yourself creative, haven’t made anything in years, or are simply curious about what might happen when you slow down and pay attention.
If something in you is longing for a little more wonder, a little more intention, or a place to nurture your faith and creativity alongside others, I’d love to have you at the table.
Come join us in year-long journey of The Practice. Your place is waiting.
