Receive the Good

This October, journey with us as we slow down to recognize what God has been growing, receive the fruit of His faithfulness, and give thanks for the harvest.

Prayer

God,

Help me receive the goodness You place in my life.

Sometimes I spend so much time asking You for what I need that I forget to enjoy what You have already given. I can be so focused on the next thing that I miss the gifts sitting right in front of me.

Teach me to receive without rushing, to enjoy without guilt, and to give thanks without feeling like I need to earn the goodness first.

Let me taste and see Your goodness in the ordinary moments of this day.

Amen.

Reflection

There is a difference between knowing something is good and actually letting yourself enjoy it.

You can know you have people who love you and still rush through the time you have together.

You can recognize that God has been faithful and still spend most of your prayers worrying about what comes next.

You can receive a gift and immediately start thinking about what you need to do in return.

I wonder how often we do this with the goodness of God.

We acknowledge it, perhaps even thank Him for it, and then move right along to the next concern.

But what if receiving is part of the practice of faith?

What if God isn't only inviting us to trust Him with what we lack, but to enjoy Him in what we have?

You don't have to wait until every loose end is tied up to experience the goodness of God. You don't have to solve every problem before you can be grateful for a beautiful afternoon or a conversation that leaves you feeling less alone.

There is goodness here, even in an unfinished life.

May we become people who know how to receive it.

Invitation

Notice one good thing today that you might normally hurry past. Give it your attention. Let yourself enjoy it and thank God for it.

LifeGiver.Site

A Site to Revive Women

It's easy to get lost under the roles, expectations, and demands placed upon women in marriage and motherhood. Religion seems to only add to that weight. However, we believe women who know their worth and value and walk in their identity are needed now more than ever. At lifegiver.site, it is our mission to help faith-based women create a life and environment that revives them.
