Prayer

God,

Thank You for reminding me that I am not the one responsible for making everything grow.

I can plant, tend, water, show up, and do the work You have given me. But I cannot control the timing, the outcome, or the way my offering will reach others.

Help me work with care without making the results my identity. Keep me from taking too much credit when things go well or carrying unnecessary shame when they don't.

I offer You what has grown, what hasn't, and what I still hope to see. May I be faithful with my part and trust You with Yours.

The harvest is Yours.

Amen.

Verse of the Day

Reflection

There is a particular kind of freedom in remembering that we are not responsible for making everything grow.

We can work hard and still not get the outcome we hoped for. We can offer something meaningful and never know who it reached. We can pour ourselves into a relationship, a calling, or a creative endeavor and find that its growth takes a different shape than we expected.

Our part matters. We are invited to show up, to care, to learn, to make, to love, and to offer what we have been given.

But there comes a point when our part is done for now.

The difficulty is that we often keep carrying the work long after we have made our offering. We revisit every decision, measure every response, and wonder whether we could have done something more to guarantee the outcome we wanted.

We want to be faithful, but sometimes our desire for faithfulness quietly turns into a desire for control.

What if you could release that burden?

You can care deeply about your work without asking it to prove your worth. You can celebrate what has grown without claiming that you made it happen all by yourself. You can grieve what didn't grow without believing you must have failed.

The harvest belongs to God. That doesn't make your work insignificant. It means you were never meant to carry the whole weight of the outcome.
