Prayer

God,

Thank You for this season.

Thank You for the things that grew in ways I could see and the things that were happening beneath the surface. Thank You for the prayers answered, the lessons learned, the people who walked alongside me, and the ordinary moments I might have overlooked if I hadn't slowed down.

I also bring You the disappointments, the unfinished dreams, and the things I still don't understand. I don't need to pretend every part of this season was easy in order to be grateful for Your presence in it.

Help me receive what is here with open hands. Teach me to celebrate without clinging, release without bitterness, and look ahead without rushing past today.

You have been faithful through every season. As I begin again, help me remember that the growth belongs to You, and so does whatever comes next.

Amen.

Verse of the Day

Reflection

Here we are at the end of October.

Over these past few weeks, we've been learning to recognize what God has been growing, to receive the good without immediately turning it into another task, and to consider how the fruit of our lives might become a gift to someone else.

We've also been reminded that not everything grows as we hoped. Some things remain unfinished. Some dreams change. Some questions travel with us into the next season.

And still, there is reason to give thanks.

Gratitude doesn't require us to call every circumstance good or to find a neat explanation for everything that has happened. It simply invites us to notice that even in an imperfect season, there are things worth receiving.

Maybe you see growth in the way you respond to difficulty now. Maybe you have learned to rest without feeling quite so guilty, or to say no when you once would have agreed out of obligation. Perhaps you made something you were afraid to make, reached toward someone you had been missing, or simply kept showing up through a season that asked a great deal of you.

Don't overlook those things.

You don't have to turn this month into a report card. You don't need to measure your harvest against anyone else's or decide whether you've done enough to deserve a season of rest.

You can simply look around and say, “Thank You, God. I see a little more of what You have been doing.”

And then, with open hands, you can let the season go.

August invited us to tend what God had placed in our hands. September invited us to notice His invitations and respond faithfully. October has invited us to receive what He has grown.

Perhaps the next faithful thing is to rest for a moment in the goodness of that.

There will be more to tend, more invitations to notice, and more opportunities to begin again. But we don't have to get there today.

For now, give thanks for the harvest.

Encouragement

Invitation

Before you move on to whatever comes next, name three things from this season that you can thank God for. Let yourself sit with them for a moment.

And remember: the garden is His, the growth is His, and you are held by Him through every season.
